WORKFORCE

Providing skilled labor to regional industry

The federal/state Workforce Program and its services are made possible by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Title I-B services for Adult, Dislocated Workers, and Youth Programs offering job readiness assistance, and employment. The WIOA program has core partners working together to address the diverse needs of the job sector.

Southwest Arkansas Planning & Development District oversees the administration aspect of the Workforce Board of Directors and the One-Stop sites serving the region, including a One-Stop operator who makes sure our Workforce Centers are meeting the needs of the people. The One-Stop operator keeps the partners engaged and up to date on current events with monthly partner meetings.

The partner meetings offer many opportunities to strengthen our workforce system by creating better partnerships with workforce staff, Adult Education, Arkansas Rehab, and other service providers, such as community colleges in order to improve services to individuals who face barriers to employment and financial independence. We are collaboratively working together to reach all industries in our area. Business services teams are organized to hear the needs of employers and assist with implementing those needs. Our task is to provide these industries with the skilled laborers to fill job openings in our region.
